Q. What is Family Medicine? A. Family Medicine is a medical specialty whose physicians are trained to provide comprehensive, continuing healthcare to all members of the family. Family practice physicians diagnose and treat male and female patients from birth through their senior years. For more information on Family Medicine, go to www.familydoctor.org. Q. Who is Central Virginia Family Physicians? A. In 1993, five groups of Family physicians who had been providing medical care to the families of Lynchburg and the surrounding counties for over twenty years, joined together to create a single group known as Central Virginia Family Physicians or “CVFP”. Now with ten locations, some of which are open evenings and weekends, CVFP provides high quality care that is accessible and convenient. A. CVFP is not part of the Centra Health system, however, CVFP physicians admit patients who are in need of hospitalization to Centra Health and they also refer patients there for certain tests.
Q. How do I become a CVFP patient? A. By contacting the office of your choice. We will review our policies with you, answer any questions you might have, and schedule your appointment. If you choose to, you can create a new account on our home page and request your new patient appointment on-line and view any documentation you may need to complete prior to your new patient visit.

A. CVFP currently participates with Medicare, Piedmont Community Health Plan, United Healthcare, Medicaid, Anthem/BlueCross, Anthem PPO, Aetna, Southern Health, Virginia Premier and Cigna.
A. As a courtesy to our patients, CVFP files all insurance forms, even for those companies with whom we do not participate. Payments for non-covered services, co-payments, deductibles and coinsurance amounts are expected at the time the services are provided.
